No Bible Background is needed to teach from this book. It is designed to make the Bible and some of its most important messages available to adults with cognitive or developmental disabilities. Many people would like to teach these dear friends, but need ideas on what to teach and may lack a Bible background. This book is designed so that anyone, whether having a little or much Bible knowledge can pick it up, read it over, and then teach it.
No props or crafts or extra planning are required. Although a whiteboard is useful for printing memory verses, any large piece of paper could be used.
No volunteer team required. It is designed for one person to teach any small group or individual without additional volunteers.
It is designed for a short time commitment. A person could start with the Introduction and Chapter One (recommended), and then proceed straight through the book. It could also be broken down into two five-week sessions, or skip around and do the Christmas Story or Easter Story when the timing is appropriate.
The chapters are planned so they can be done within an hour.
Note: It will be necessary to have some students that are able to verbally communicate. However, reading would not be required for the student as the teacher would usually read and ask the questions. The main requirement is a teacher with a heart for those with disabilities and a love for God’s Word plus a desire to share it.
